HC Deb 03 August 1966 vol 733 cc123-4W
Mr. Elystan Morgan

asked the Minister of Transport what advice she has received from the Welsh Economic Planning Council with regard to the improvement of public service facilities in Cardiganshire.

Mr. William Edwards

asked the Minister of Transport what advice she has received from the Welsh Economic Planning Council about the need to improve public transport facilities in Merioneth.

Mr. Swingler

The Council has given my right hon. Friend advice about public passenger transport in Wales as a whole. Steps are now being taken to set up a transport co-ordinating committee which, as indicated in her White Paper on Transport Policy, will be studying transport arrangements throughout Wales and advising on steps necessary to get a more effective and co-ordinated service by public transport.

The Council has also arranged for a pilot study of transport in an area of West Wales to be carried out by the University College of Aberystwyth.
