HC Deb 03 August 1966 vol 733 cc140-1W
Mr. Hogg

asked the Prime Minister whether he is yet able to assess the effects on atmospheric pollution of French nuclear tests held since the conclusion of the partial nuclear test ban treaty in 1963.

The Prime Minister

The only French tests which have been held in the atmosphere since the signing of the Partial Test Ban Treaty in 1963 are those which have taken place recently in the Pacific. Fall-out from these tests has been detected in the Southern hemisphere, but we would not expect the level of radioactivity outside the immediate test area to be significant in terms of human health.
