HC Deb 03 August 1966 vol 733 cc99-100W
45. Mr. Mayhew

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will now specify the defence cuts by which the proposed budget of £2,400 million for 1969–70 has been reduced to £2,000 million.

Mr. Healey

I have nothing to add to my previous statements and answers on this subject.

71. Mr. Rankin

asked the Secretary of State for Defence in what fields of defence the cuts in expenditure will be applied.

Mr. Healey

The reduction in oversea defence expenditure announced by my right hon. Friend, the Prime Minister, on 20th July will be achieved by reducing the size and cost of the forces stationed overseas.
