§ 56. Sir T. Beamishasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will now announce his decision on the refund of Selective Employment Tax to agricultural and horticultural co-operative associations and companies wholly owned by growers.
§ Mr. PeartI have carefully considered the position of these co-operative bodies, and am satisfied that it would not be consistent with the objective of the Selective Employment Payments Bill to provide for refunds to those engaged primarily in marketing. Those that are engaged in production will, under the provisions of the Bill, be eligible for consideration for refund in the light of their individual circumstances.
