§ Mr. Symondsasked the Postmaster-General what method is applied when sub-post offices are allocated on housing estates or in towns.
§ Mr. Joseph SlaterWe do not normally provide a new post office within a mile of an existing one. But this standard is not applied inflexibly; exceptions are made, for example, where there is a large self-contained housing estate with its own shopping centre largely meeting the day-to-day needs of the residents, or where the journey to the nearest existing post office is for many people specially difficult.
