§ Mr. Goronwy RobertsThe Social Science Research Council has commissioned a survey of sources of information on manpower needs for research in social sciences. As regards the general need for social science graduates it is my view that demand for highly qualified manpower and its distribution should be studied as a whole against the background of national needs and the structure and size of the educational system as a whole, and not solely in relation to individual skills in isolation. The technical and conceptual problems that this implies are being examined. A list of more general studies on demand for and utilisation of highly qualified manpower in general was appended to the last Report of the Committee on Manpower Resources for Science and Technology (Cmnd. 2800, Appendix "C", Part "C")
