§ Mr. Smallasked the Secretary of State for Defence what further progress he has made in consultations with the Council of Territorial and Auxiliary Forces Associations about the reorganisation of the Army reserves.
§ Mr. ReynoldsAfter consultations with the Council of Territorial and Auxiliary Forces Associations the Government have decided that the Army's volunteer reserve force shall be known as the Territorial and Army Volunteer Reserve (T. & A.V.R.). The parts referred to in the 3W White Paper on the Reorganisation of the Army Reserves as Army Volunteer Reserve I and II will be known as T. & A.V.R. I and II. For administrative purposes they will be referred to collectively as volunteers and this designation will be reflected in unit titles. The Home Defence Force, the establishment of which 4W was announced in the House on 2nd February, 1966, will be known as T. & A.V.R. III; for administrative purposes and in unit titles they will be referred to as Territorials.
Discussions with the Council on other aspects of the Reorganisation are continuing.
