HC Deb 27 October 1965 vol 718 c67W
60. Mr. G. Campbell

asked the Minister of Aviation what proposals the Government have for international agreement upon conditions for the transport of animals by air.

Mr. Burden

asked the Minister of Aviation if he will take the initiative in suggesting to the International Air Transport Association that minimum standards should be laid down for the transport of animals by air.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

My Department has already suggested to the International Air Transport Association the drawing up, for adoption by its members, of more comprehensive regulations on this subject. A Committee of the Association has recommended that a specialist study group should be set up for this purpose.

In addition, a Committee of Experts of the Council of Europe, on which the United Kingdom is represented, is drafting a Convention on the international carriage of animals by all forms of transport.
