asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many persons of various European nationalities have settled in Great Britain since 1945.

No exact statistics are available of foreigners accepted for permanent residence before 1960.

The tables below show the numbers of foreigners of the principal European nationalities who were resident in the United Kingdom on 1st January, 1961 (including pre-war residents) and the number who have since been accepted for residence up to the end of 1964. These figures do not allow for wastage due to naturalisation, emigration and death.
