§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, why the police have not investigated the claim that Tom Browne fired the shot wounding Captain Twitchell, in view of the facts that this man has a criminal record and was known to be in the vicinity of the actual firing and that evidence is now available that he was connected with this incident.
§ Miss BaconThe police did investigate this claim but could find no grounds for any further action against Browne, who had previously been arrested on charges of being concerned in the robbery during which Mr. Twitchell was shot, but was discharged by a magistrates court on grounds of insufficient evidence.
