HC Deb 23 November 1965 vol 721 c42W
74. Mr. J. H. Osborn

asked the Minister of Labour what information he has about redundancies in the steel industry; which are the individual firms affected by this; what are the numbers involved; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Thornton

My local officers have been informed of two current redundancies in the steel industry. One is at Johnson's Iron and Steel Mill, West Bromwich, where 30 men became unemployed on 22nd November; the other is at Richard Thomas and Baldwin's works at Ebbw Vale, where 250 men are likely to be affected.

My officials will do everything they can to assist those who need help in finding other work.
