Aberdeen … 3 Dundee … 2 Edinburgh … 6 Glasgow … 24 Inverness … 1 Kilmarnock … 1 Motherwell … 1 Paisley … 2 Dumbarton … 2 Fife … 6 Lanarkshire … 4 Lothian and Peebles … 3 Renfrew and Bute … 2 Stirling and Clackmannan … 1 In addition, one dog in Renfrew and Bute and 11 dogs in Stirling and Clackmannan are owned by members of these forces and carry out police work.
Scottish police forces make use, as required, of police training centres in England for the training of dogs and of the officers who handle them. There is no proposal at present for such a centre in Scotland.
