§ Mr. Dempseyasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what date he has approved for starting the next phase of the removal of the Monkland Canal, Coatbridge; what is the estimated cost of the project and the amount of the Government grant; and when the work will be completed.
§ Mr. RossI approved on 18th November a scheme for filling in a further section of the canal, at a net cost provisionally estimated at £175,000. Grant arrangements will be the same as for the earlier phase of the work, but the amount of grant cannot be determined until more precise costs are available. The timing of the work is a matter for the town council and their consultants.
