HC Deb 22 November 1965 vol 721 c10W
49. Mr. Hastings

asked the Minister of Public Building and Works, what sum the Directorate-General of Research and Development is at present spending to promote industrialised building; and what is the current difference in cost between a house built by industrial methods and one built by traditional methods.

Mr. C. Pannell

Work on the development of industrialised building forms only a part of the total activity of my Directorate-General of Research and Development, and a separate figure for the cost of this work is not available.

On average, flats built by industrialised methods are slightly cheaper, and two-storey houses slightly dearer, than traditional building.
