HC Deb 17 November 1965 vol 720 c80W
81. Sir D. Kaberry

asked the Postmaster-General if he is aware of the gradual deterioration of the postal services and deliveries between Leeds and London and Leeds and Manchester and Liverpool; and what action he proposes to take.

Mr. Joseph Slater

There have been some delays on occasions. These have been caused mainly by staff shortage in London and this is being met by our recruiting drive for postmen and by the employment of more women and part-timers.

82. Sir D. Kaberry

asked the Postmaster-General why a small registered postal package posted at Banstead, Surrey, at 10.30 a.m. on Monday 1st November did not arrive at its destination in Leeds 16 before 11 a.m. on Saturday 6th November, 1965; and what plans he has for improvement of such service in the immediate future.

Mr. Joseph Slater

Inquiries are being made about the delay and I will write to the hon. Member as soon as possible.
