§ 25. Mr. Dudley Smithasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on the progress to date in negotiations for an extension of the six-mile London taxi fare limit, and an acceptable standard fare for journeys between London Airport and Central London.
§ Mr. George ThomasDiscussions with representatives of the trade have shown that there is substantial support for the regulation of fares for the balance of all journeys over six miles on the basis of double the ordinary tariff applying up to six miles. My right hon. and learned Friend has decided to adopt this standard. Legislation will be required.
