Mr. Peter Walkerasked the President of the Board of Trade why, in the Board of Trade Journal of 29th October, 1965, the January, 1965, figure for the Index of Industrial Production was omitted; and if he is aware that this omission conceals the fall of production that has taken place during the first eight months of 1965.
§ Mr. DarlingStandard practice for this monthly table was followed in giving figures for each of the latest six months. Figures for earlier months are readily available in the Monthly Digest of 215W Statistics. From these it will be seen that production this year has been about 3 per cent. higher than the average for 1964.
