§ Mr. Lomasasked the Minister of Transport if he will introduce legislation to compel cars to be fitted with reflective number plates, in the interests of road safety.
§ Mr. Tom FraserThe reflectors required to be fitted on vehicles should provide sufficient reflective illumination for road safety purposes, but my Working Party on the Lighting of Vehicles will be considering whether any improvements are necessary. Reflective number plates may be easier to read in the dark than the number plates now required but I shall ask the Working Party to consider whether their use might also contribute to road safety.
