§ Mr. ThorntonAt mid-1964, the latest date for which information is available, 1,638,000 persons were employed in nationalised industries and 1,885,000 by local authorities in Great Britain. The corresponding figures for mid-1963 were 1,697,000 and 1,817,000 respectively.
