HC Deb 31 May 1965 vol 713 cc144-5W
Dr. Wyndham Davies

asked the Minister of Health how long he anticipates it will take the Committee on Safety of Drugs to assess the safety of oral contraceptives.

Mr. K. Robinson

I understand that the Committee expect that before any firm conclusions can be drawn a period of two to three years may be needed for their investigation of the comparative incidence of serious conditions in women of child-bearing age taking and not taking oral contraceptives. If in the meantime evidence indicating the likelihood of serious risk were to reach the Committee I am sure they would make this known without delay.
