HC Deb 31 May 1965 vol 713 c141W
51. Mr. Maxwell

asked the Minister of Health if he has studied the evidence, sent to him by the hon. Member for Buckingham, that the use of hormones in poultry production can cause cancer and sexual aberrations in consumers; and if he will take steps to avert this danger.

Mr. Loughlin

My hon. Friend referred my right hon. Friend to extracts from a report made in 1960 which set out possibilities, not evidence. I am advised that any additional intake of oestrogens derived from eating poultry is far too low to produce any physiological effects in man, and that there are no grounds for believing that it involves any danger of inducing cancer.
