HC Deb 31 May 1965 vol 713 c157W
88. Mr. Blenkinsop

asked the Minister of Land and Natural Resources when he expects to receive the National Parks Commission's proposals for the coastline.

Mr. Willey

The National Parks Commission are considering my request to let me have their proposals for tackling problems of our coastline that are bidding strongly to become a major problem in the next few years; and I hope that they will let me have their short-term proposals in the very near future.

In conjunction with my right hon. Friends the Secretary of State for Wales and the Minister of Housing and Local Government, I have also asked the Commission to hold a series of conferences with planning authorities on a regional basis later this year to give an up-to-date factual picture of where the pressures on the coastline are most acute, how these are being dealt with and the main types of development involved. The results of these conferences will form the basis for a future control policy and the review of development plans.
