HC Deb 26 May 1965 vol 713 c97W
Dr. Wyndham Davies

asked the Minister of Health (1) whether he is satisfied, from the medical knowledge now available to him, that contraceptive tablets may be safely prescribed to patients in the National Health Service; and if he will make a statement;

(2) if he will make a comparative assessment of the relative safety of contraceptive tablets as against pregnancy and childbirth risks to health.

Mr. K. Robinson

The Committee on Safety of Drugs is at present investigating whether there is evidence of risk in the use of oral contraceptives. Any statement, including any comparison with the normal risks associated with pregnancy and childbirth, must await the outcome of this investigation.
