§ Mr. Chichester-Clarkasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he will list the prizes for literature awarded by the Arts Council, together with their values.
§ Mr. CroslandI understand from the Arts Council that during 1965 it is intended to make the following awards:
(1) £250 for the best book of original English verse by a living poet published during the period 1st July, 1962 to 30th June, 1965; and
(2) £175 for the best first or second book of original English verse published during the same period.
The Council also propose to give certain prizes for literature but the Council are not yet ready to announce details.
