Mr. Cordleasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what grants have been made to British symphony 112W orchestras giving performances overseas during the past five years; and whether it is his policy to publicise internationally the quality of British cultural institutions by facilitating overseas tours by eminent orchestras and artists.
§ Mr. PadleyIn the past five years the British Council has assisted, by way of guarantees against loss, 25 overseas tours by British symphony orchestras and other major musical groups. It is the British Council's object to show the best that this country has to offer and it does so in so far as its priorities and resources allow.
