§ Mr. Astorasked the Minister of Transport if he will publish the technical reasons which led him to open discussions 122W for a new route of the M.4 motorway through Berkshire, in preference to either of the two alternative routes previously considered.
§ Mr. Tom FraserI explained why I had asked for the matter to be re-examined in my Answer to my hon. Friend the Member for Swindon (Mr. Francis Noel-Baker), on 17th February. I am now engaged in the usual preliminary confidential discussions with local authorities and hope soon to publish my proposed route, together with an explanatory statement which will enable those affected to understand the reasons for the proposals. There will then be the usual opportunity for the submission of objections or representations.
