§ Q14. Mr. Grimondasked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the declaration by the Action Committee of the United States of Europe, he will state the policy of Her Majesty's Government on the alternatives of seeking admission to the European Economic Community after appropriate discussions with Great Britain's partners in the Commonwealth and the European Free Trade Association, and building bridges between the European Economic Community and the European Free Trade Association.
§ The Prime MinisterAs the right hon. Gentleman knows, the choice he describes is not in present circumstances a real one. There is at present no question of admission to the European Economic Community. But we are well aware of the dangers of the growing division between the two European economic groupings, and we are therefore about to discuss with our European Free Trade Association partners the possibilities of measures to reduce those dangers.
