§ Q7. Mr. Jacksonasked the Prime Minister what progress has been made by Her Majesty's Government towards achieving a negotiated settlement in the Vietnam crisis.
§ The Prime MinisterBritain, the United States and their other allies in the South-East Asia Treaty Organisation reaffirmed on 5th May their purpose of seeking a peaceful settlement and their support for President Johnson's offer of unconditional discussion with the Governments concerned in the Vietnam conflict. But I am sorry to tell the House that I still have no indication that China, North Vietnam or the Soviet Union are yet prepared to consider a negotiated settlement on anything but their own unacceptable terms.
