§ 18. Mr. Bruce-Gardyneasked the Minister of Aviation whether, in the public interest, he will give general directions to British European Airways and British Overseas Airways Corporation to enter into negotiations with a view to seeking membership of Air Union.
§ Mr. Roy JenkinsI am advised that under Section 5 of the Air Corporations Act, 1949, I have no power to give such a direction as it would not be of a general character, but the development of Air Union is of considerable interest to civil aviation in this country and I am keeping in close touch with our airlines about it.
