HC Deb 04 May 1965 vol 711 cc134-5W
41. Mr. Shepherd

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what information he has from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development or other sources as to the national income per capita at factor cost expressed as a percentage of the income per capita at factor cost of the Federal Republic of Germany and of France, respectively, at the latest convenient date.

Mr. MacDermot

Converting national currencies at the official exchange rate, the figures for 1963 are 101 per cent. and 100 per cent. respectively. The comparisons may be misleading as the exchange rates do not necessarily reflect the internal purchasing power of the respective currencies.
