HL Deb 04 May 1965 vol 265 c922WA
THE BARONESS WOOTTON OE ABINGER

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How the number of indictable offences attributed by the police to children under the age of 10 since the raising of the age of criminal responsibility to 10 compares with the number of such offences attributed to children in this age group in the corresponding period before the age of criminal responsibility was raised.

LORD STONHAM

In 1964 the number of indictable offences attributed by the police to children under 10 was 5,454. The only approximately comparable figure available for 1963 is the number of children aged 8 and 9 found guilty of indictable offences. This was 6,023.

House adjourned at twenty-seven minutes before eight o'clock.
