HC Deb 04 May 1965 vol 711 c138W
55. Mr. Shinwell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will cause an investigation to be made into the association of the British Petroleum Company with other international oil companies, including their financial transactions and methods of providing capital for development.

Mr. Callaghan

The Government already have frequent discussions with the British Petroleum Company, particularly as regards its capital development programmes, and in these circumstances it seems unnecessary to have an investigation such as my right hon. Friend suggests.
