HC Deb 04 May 1965 vol 711 c143W
65. Mr. Cordle

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what estimate he has made of the income which would be available for the provision of entertainment in all forms by local authorities if such authorities incurred expenditure for this purpose to the maximum provided by Section 132 of the Local Government Act 1948, namely, the product of a 6d. rate.

Mr. MacColl

The product of a 6d. rate levied by all local authorities in England and Wales to which Section 132 of the Local Government Act 1948 applies would be about £67 million. In addition, authorities may spend the net income they receive from entertainments provided under the section.
