§ Sir H. Studholmeasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will state Her Majesty's Government's policy with regard to the Naval Gunnery School, H.M.S. "Cambridge", Wembury.
§ Mr. MayhewH.M.S. "Cambridge" is the only naval shore gunnery establishment in the United Kingdom with satisfactory range facilities for close and medium range live firing training. It fulfils a requirement which will need to be met for the foreseeable future. The ways in which we can meet the conflicting needs of the Navy for this establishment, and of Plymouth for a civil airport, are being urgently considered.
