§ Mr. Tom FraserThe Railways Board has so far committed about £1 million in orders for liner train-type equipment. The extent of further capital expenditure depends on the date of the initial services and the success achieved. The Board is not able to make any useful estimate of the effect on its operating deficit of its inability to introduce liner services as soon as it had originally planned.
