§ Mr. Randallasked the Postmaster-General if he will state the total number of sub-postmasters and the total sum paid to them for services during the last 12 months for which figures are available; and whether he will tabulate this information to show an upper, middle and lower range of payments, indicating the number of sub-postmasters and the total amounts paid in each group.
§ Mr. Benn22,961 sub-postmasters were in office at the 1st January, 1965. The total sum paid to them for the 12 months ending 31st December, 1964, was approximately £21,590,000. This sum divides broadly as follows:
