asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the final decision to close a small hospital in Wales is made by the Minister of Health or by the Secretary of State for Wales.

THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDERSECRETARY OF STATE FOR COMMONWEALTH RELATIONS AND FOR THE COLONIES (LORD TAYLOR)

The Minister of Health; but he would consult the Secretary of State, who is kept informed by the Welsh Board of Health of all important matters relating to the health services in Wales, including any proposal to close or change the use of a hospital.
