§ Mr. John Wellsasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will take steps to encourage the formation of an apple and pear development council with statutory powers.
§ Mr. PeartI am considering a suggestion by the National Farmers' Union that I should establish such a council under Section 1 of the Industrial Organisation and Development Act, 1947. I hope shortly to have discussions with the union regarding the suggested scope of such a council and the means of ascertaining what support would be given to its establishment by the industry.
