Mr. Palmerasked the Minister of Health if he is aware of the trade, particularly in the Bristol area, in imported hearing aids at high prices which later prove to be ineffective for their purpose; and whether he will prevent the deception of the elderly deaf by better publicity of the facilities available under the National Health Service to the hard of hearing.
§ Mr. K. RobinsonI am aware of the case which my hon. Friend brought to my notice. Comprehensive services, including the provision of a Medresco hearing aid where appropriate, are available free of charge under the National Health Service to anyone who needs them and I will certainly consider whether any further publicity can usefully be given.
