§ Mr. Hamlingasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will now make a statement on the progress of discussions on the case for an independent inquiry into the disposal of Government surplus goods at public auctions.
§ Mr. MulleySo far as the sales of the surpluses of the Defence Services are concerned, I have made a most thorough examination of the arrangements and have decided that a formally constituted inquiry is not required. In this connection, I would refer to my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Erith and Crayford (Mr. Dodds) on 12th March.
