§ Mr. Harold Walkerasked the Minister of Power if he will introduce legislation to reduce the proportion of capital expenditure which has to be met from current revenue by the Central Electricity Generating Board and area electricity boards.
§ Mr. Frederick LeeNo. The financial objectives which are agreed with the Boards under the White Paper Cmnd. 1337 provide a convenient means of settling the proportions of their capital expenditures to be met out of revenue. As these proportions are not statutorily fixed but can be varied from time to time in the light of changing circumstances, including the competing claims on the country's resources, legislation is unnecessary.
