asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will appoint a scientific adviser to the fishing industry.

Mr. Hoy

No. I do not think that such an appointment would be an improvement on the present arrangements under which advice bearing on the diverse problems of the fishing industry is available from the scientists of the Fisheries Departments, the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research and other sources.

There is close collaboration between the Departments and the White Fish Authority and Herring Industry Board on the needs of the industry and the application of the results of research.
