§ Mr. BennCapital expenditure on fixed assets in the 10 years to 1964–65 amounts to about £1,200 million, of which the postal services account for £80 million and Telecommunications for £1,120 million. In the same period charges for inland telephone, telegraph and postal services have increased by 52, 66 and 47 per cent., respectively. During this period costs have risen even more sharply.
