HC Deb 09 March 1965 vol 708 c80W
Mr. Blaker

asked the President of the Board of Trade which member countries of the European Free Trade Association and of the European Economic Community limit imports of tomatoes and cucumbers by means of quotas or import licences.

Mr. Redhead

Imports of both tomatoes and cucumbers are limited by means of quotas or import licences for all or part of the year into Austria, Denmark, Finland, Norway, France and Germany. The United Kingdom restricts imports of tomatoes and cucumbers from the Eastern Area countries. Belgium limits imports of tomatoes—other than those for further processing—at certain times of the year.

Mr. Blaker

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT a table showing the duties charged on imports of tomatoes and cucumbers by each of the member countries of the European Free Trade Association and European Economic Community.

Mr. Redhead

As the information the hon. Member has asked for is somewhat detailed, I am writing to him separately and am arranging for copies of the material to be placed in the Library of the House.
