§ 30. Mr. Bruce-Gardyneasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement of Her Majesty's Gov- 36W ernment's policy towards reform of the international liquidity system along the lines put forward by President de Gaulle.
§ Mr. CallaghanIt would be premature for me to make a statement on the policies proposed by President de Gaulle and the French Minister of Finance, since these need clarification before it is possible to see precisely what is intended. We hope to learn more about the French proposals during the continuing international discussions of the liquidity problem. But if the French proposals are as restrictive as they seem to be at first sight, we certainly could not go along with them.
