HC Deb 09 March 1965 vol 708 cc67-8W
Mr. Marten

asked the Minister of Aviation what steps he is taking to encourage local authorities to develop landing strips and airfields for private business flying.

Mr. Stonehouse

In August, 1963, my Department sent a circular to counties and county boroughs on the need for more small aerodromes for business fliers, with the suggestion that they consider local requirements; an outline specification for an aerodrome of this type was enclosed. Following the issue of this circular a number of authorities have sought technical advice and guidance, which is readily available from my Department, on planning and other problems associated with aerodromes of this kind.

We will continue to ensure that this matter is brought to the attention of local interests and will give any guidance and help we can.
