HC Deb 04 March 1965 vol 707 c312W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Postmaster-Genesral when he will introduce legislation to prevent the jamming of S.O.S. calls from ships by pirate radio stations.

Mr. Benn

As I said in reply to the hon. Member for Bury St. Edmunds on 4th February, the Government intend to introduce legislation to deal with the pirate stations as soon as is practicable. I said in that reply that one of the reasons for taking action against the pirate stations is that they cause intolerable interference to the operation of certain maritime radio communication services.
