§ 87. Mr. Gowerasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will now revoke the condition imposed and authorise the removal of the old air-raid shelter at Manor Way, Whitchurch, near Cardiff, in view of the fact that conditional permission for its demolition was given by his Department in March, 1964.
§ Mr. George ThomasThe main purpose of demolition was, I understand, that garages might be erected on the site occupied by the shelters. The conditions attached to demolition at the public expense were that planning permission should be obtained for erection of the garages, and that the undertakers should acquire the site. These are essential to the purpose for which demolition was sought, and it would not be right to waive them.
