§ Mr. Hoosonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what steps are being taken by Her Majesty's Government to implement the stated policy of the Commonwealth Prime Ministers in 1961 that an international authority should be created in association with the United Nations to control an adequately-armed military force to prevent aggression and ensure that it is not used for any purpose inconsistent with the United Nations Charter.
§ Mr. George ThomsonIn accordance with the principles set out in the Commonwealth Prime Minister's Statement on Disarmament of 17th March, 1961, Her Majesty's Government are working for an agreement on general and complete disarmament at the Geneva Disarmament Conference. Her Majesty's Government consider that establishment of an effective and reliable international peace-keeping force, under appropriate control arrangements, as envisaged in the Commonwealth Prime Minister's Statement on Disarmament, is an essential part of the disarmament process.
