Mr. Corfieldasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how many objections he has received to the Gloucestershire County Council's proposal to exclude a further area of land in the Yate-Chipping Sodbury area from the Bristol green belt; and if he will give an assurance that he will convene a public local inquiry before making any decision further to reduce the green belt.
§ Mr. CrossmanI have received five objections, including two petitions. I can assure the hon. Member that there will be a public inquiry before any development is permitted on this land; but I do not think a further inquiry into the proposed green belt would be helpful at this stage. A letter has been sent to the hon. Member about this.
